WEBELOS CROSSOVER PT 2

Thursday was a fantastic night.   We crossed over a great bunch of Webelos to Boy Scout Troop 933.     They leave behind a really good, solid, legacy for our younger Scouts to follow and emulate.

Congratulations to our newest Boys Scouts… the Raccoon Patrol!  Good luck on the trail to Eagle.  Mind the words of Chief Akela… remember the story of the arrow.

A few thank you’s are in order, if I leave any one out, I am sorry…

-Mr Longworth and Troop 933

-The Boys Scouts from Troop 933 who presided over the Arrow of Light Ceremony, GREAT job Scouts!

-Mrs Reed and Mrs Paul and Mrs Kelleman for being EXCELLENT den leaders for these Scouts throughout their years.

-Pack 925 for allowing your Webelos to join us for this ceremony.

-The folks who worked behind the scenes to put on the ceremony.

-The gifted craftsman who made the Arrow of Light Plaques (not sure who it was, but THANKS they were awesome.)

-The Parents of our new Boy Scouts for being with them and encouraging them.

-Our Pack leadership.

-The new Boys Scouts for their legacy

-And of course the younger Scouts who bore witness to this cross over and await theirs some day soon.  Good job being polite and attentive during the Arrow of Light Ceremony and the Webelos Crossover!

Thanks again!

Webelos Crossover!

Thursday, March 29th 2012, marks a very special day for our Cub Scout pack.   On this day, our Webelos will cross over to Boy Scouts.      These boys that we have watched over and guided as a Pack will leave our Pack and continue their Scouting journey as Boy Scouts.

For five years, they have learned the ways of Akela, the ranks of Bobcat, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos.   They have had fun and had many adventures.    The boys have camped and maybe hiked, fished and shot an BB gun.   They have sold Popcorn to help fund our pack.   These Webelos have done a great service to our community through our Scouting for Food and raising money for Inca.   They grew as Cubs and boys with their families ever at their sides providing encouragement and support.

Now they will cross a bridge, a simple wooden bridge not unlike the one pictured above, that will symbolize that they are moving forward from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts.   They are moving along on their journey in Scouting.     The boys will be joining a Boy Scout troop.    Boy Scouts are different from Cub Scouts.   In Boy Scouts, the Scouts direct and plan their activities w guidance from the adult leaders.   The Scouts work on their merit badges and ranks individually and present their work to the adult leadership when it is complete.    The Scout must recognize the opportunities that are presented to him and use them wisely.    The path to Eagle is hard and long, but so worth the effort and time and struggle.

So, good luck to our Webelos as they crossover.   Please come and celebrate their journey in Scouting.

The Cross Over will be:

Thursday March 29th, 2012 @ Epworth Church

Beginning @ 7:00 pm.   Please arrive promptly so the ceremony can begin as soon as possible.

Tigers, Wolves, and Bears…  come in uniform and looking sharp to honor your fellow Scouts one last time!

Here are a couple articles on cross over and what it means and what it is all about.
